The view from Observation Point

Important Note!

If you wish to park at either the Stave Spring Trailhead (Cable Mountain and Deertrap Mountain) or East Mesa Trailhead (Observation Point), please be aware that parking is NOT ALLOWED anywhere except in the actual designated spaces at the trailheads themselves. Parking is NOT PERMITTED along the sides of ANY of our roads - this is private property, and not only infringes upon the owners' space but also creates a significant fire and safety hazard. (Really - we know it’s tempting, because at times many people do it, and trailhead parking is very limited - but parking alongside the road IS NOT LEGAL, and the community is cracking down hard on this by enforcing towing. We want you to have a great experience with us, so please - don’t be one of the vehicles who gets towed and/or ticketed. When trailhead parking is full, RIDE THE SHUTTLE offered by the Zion Ponderosa Ranch.)

Due to a few current trail closures in the park, we are seeing a large influx of hikers being sent to these trailheads, which are not designed to handle this volume of traffic; as a result, trespassing and destruction of private property and sensitive environmental areas have become a significant issue. Please be aware that these are not maintained trailheads, and there are no sanitation facilities - PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE TOILET PAPER AND WASTE LYING AROUND, as this is a huge eyesore and health hazard. If you need a bathroom break, properly dispose of waste by burying it, and pack out any trash.

Our homeowner community is working hard to mitigate these challenges, and in the meantime we ask that you please be respectful of the area and exercise consideration and responsibility by helping us to care for our irreplaceable landscape.

The Stave Spring and Observation Point trailheads and their surrounding roads are not maintained by the county. They are often navigable ONLY by 4WD, high clearance vehicles. If you have any concern about your ability to navigate these conditions, again, please ride the shuttle.
